Anti-diarrheal with vanilla and orange Smecta, 10 sachets, Beaufour Ipsen Industrie

Smectite, due to its laminar structure and high viscosity, has a high coating power on the intestinal mucosa.

• Increases the resistance of the mucus barrier by increasing the quality and quantity of mucus on the surface of enterocytes (active mucoprotection)
• Fixes digestive gases
• Reduces intestinal hypersensitivity, restores the functional integrity of erythrocytes
• It normalizes intestinal transit without interfering with peristalsis and without changing the volume of stools.

Indications:

• Acute diarrhea in children (can be administered from the first day of life)
• Acute and chronic diarrhea in adults
• Irritable bowel syndrome (distension, abdominal pain, transit disorders).

Drug interactions:

• The adsorbent properties of smectite may interfere with the absorption of other drugs.
• It is recommended to administer other medications at a distance from Smecta (average 2 hours).

Composition:

3 g dioctahedral diosmectite/sachet, glucose monohydrate 0.74 g/sachet, sodium saccharinate 7 mg/sachet, vanillin 4 mg/sachet (boxes with 10 and 30 sachets).

Method of administration:

• Diarrhea in adults: 3 sachets/day; diarrhea in children: 1 sachet/day for 0-1 year, 2 sachets/day for 1-2 years, 3 sachets/day over 3 years
• Irritable bowel syndrome: 3 sachets/day for 1 week, then 2 sachets/day until the end of the first month of treatment
• The belts are resumed as needed.
• The contents of each sachet are dissolved in 1/2 glass of water or any liquid or semi-liquid food.

Adverse reactions:

• Very rarely, constipation; normal bowel movements will resume after reducing the dose by half.

Contraindications:

It doesn't.

Precautions:

• The treatment does not replace rehydration, when necessary (oral/iv)
• To avoid interference with the absorption times/concentrations of other substances, any other oral medication should be administered approximately 1 hour before taking Smecta.
