Picoprep, 2 envelopes, Ferring Laegemidler

Indications:
Picoprep is a powder that contains sodium picosulfate, a laxative that works by stimulating bowel activity. Picoprep also contains magnesium citrate, another type of laxative that works by retaining fluids in the bowel to achieve a "cleansing" effect.
Picoprep is used in adults, adolescents and children from 1 year of age to evacuate the contents of the bowel before an X-ray, endoscopy or surgery is performed or when considered clinically necessary.

Composition:
The active substance is bisacodyl. Each suppository contains 10 mg bisacodyl.
The other components are: semi-synthetic glycerides (Witepsol W45).

Method of administration:
The Picoprep powder should be dissolved in a cup of cold water (approximately 150 ml).
Stir for 2-3 minutes and then drink the solution. Sometimes the solution becomes hot as the Picoprep dissolves. If this happens, wait until it has cooled down sufficiently before drinking it.
Adults (including the elderly) and children aged 9 years and over:
The recommended dose is one sachet taken 10-18 hours before the procedure and one sachet taken 4-6 hours before the procedure. The first sachet should be followed by at least five 250 ml servings of clear liquids, consumed over several hours, and the second sachet taken should be followed by at least three 250 ml servings of clear liquids, consumed over several hours.
You can consume clear liquids up to 2 hours before the procedure.
Children (under 9 years old):
For administration times in children, refer to the instructions provided for adults.
The medicine is provided with a dosing spoon.
Between 1 and 2 years: first dose: 1 measuring spoon, second dose: 1 measuring spoon
Between 2 and 4 years: first dose: 2 measuring spoons, second dose: 2 measuring spoons
Between 4 and 9 years: first dose: 1 sachet (administered according to the instructions for "adults"), second dose: 2 measuring spoons.
9 years and over: adult dose.
To measure the dose with the measuring spoon:
- Fill the teaspoon, with the tip, with powder from the sachet.
- Run the beveled side of a knife blade over the tip of the measuring spoon.
- The amount of powder remaining in the measuring spoon is one teaspoon (4 g of powder).
- Pour the powder from the measuring cup into a cup of water. The cup should contain:
- Approximately 50 ml of water if you measure one teaspoon of powder
- Approximately 100 ml of water if you measure two teaspoons of powder
- Stir the contents of the cup for 2-3 minutes.

Contraindications:
Do not take Picoprep if:
- you are allergic to sodium picosulfate/magnesium oxide/citric acid or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
-you have a reduced capacity to empty your stomach (gastric retention);
-you have stomach or intestinal ulcers;
-you have severe kidney problems;
-you suffer from a blockage or perforation of the intestine;
-you experience nausea or vomiting.

Precautions:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking Picoprep.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines:
Picoprep has no effect on the ability to drive and use machines.
