Forlax, 20 sachets, Beaufour Ipsen Industrie

Indications:
Forlax contains the active substance macrogol 4000. This medicine is an osmotic laxative recommended for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults and children over 8 years of age.

Composition:
Each sachet of powder for oral solution contains 10 g of macrogol 4000.
The other ingredients are: sodium saccharin, orange and grapefruit flavor (contains orange and grapefruit oils, orange juice concentrate, citrate, acetaldehyde, linalool, ethyl butyrate, alpha terpineol, octanal, beta and gamma hexenol, maltodextrin, gum arabic, sorbitol (E 420)).

Method of administration:
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
If symptoms worsen or do not improve within 7 days of treatment, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
For adults and children over 8 years old
- 1-2 sachets per day, preferably administered in a single dose in the morning. The dose is adjusted according to needs and can vary from 1 sachet/day (especially in children) to 2 sachets/day.
- If you take 2 sachets, it is best to take them together in a glass of water.
- Forlax begins to act within 24-48 hours after administration.
- When the constipation resolves, you can stop taking Forlax.
It is administered orally.
Dissolve the contents of the sachet(s) in a glass of water and then drink the entire contents of the glass.
In children, treatment should not exceed 3 months.

Contraindications:
Do not use Forlax
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to macrogol (PEG = polyethylene glycol) or any of the other ingredients of FORLAX;
- if you have abdominal pain of uncertain cause
- if you have certain inflammatory diseases of the colon and intestine (hemorrhagic colitis, Crohn's disease, abnormal dilation of the intestine);
- if you have a certain intestinal condition called "ileus";
- if you have an obstruction in the intestine (intestinal obstruction or sub-obstruction syndrome);
- if you have a perforation in your intestine or are at risk of digestive perforation of your intestine
If the above applies to you, do not use this medicine.

Precautions:
Cases of allergic reactions involving skin rash and localised fluid accumulation in the face or throat (angioedema) have been reported during treatment with medicines containing macrogol (polyethylene glycol). Isolated cases of serious allergic reactions have been reported, causing fainting or collapse or difficulty breathing and a general feeling of being unwell.
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop taking Forlax and seek medical help immediately.
Treating constipation with any medication is only an adjunct to a proper lifestyle and an adequate diet.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines:
Forlax does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
