The part used is valerian root, which is rich in various natural substances, including essential oils, valepotriates, valerenic acids, alkaloids, lignans, and free amino acids such as GABA. There are no definitive studies identifying precisely which constituents are responsible for the effects of valerian root. Valepotriates, valerenic acids, and lignans are under closer scrutiny. According to recent findings, a substance from the lignan group shows a connection to its calming and sleep-inducing properties.

Valerian can be used for both difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, as well as to alleviate general states of agitation and restlessness, thus contributing to an improvement in well-being. Depending on individual needs, various products can be chosen: 120 mg for multiple doses throughout the day in cases of nervous tension, or 360 mg one hour before bedtime for difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep.

The advantage of valerian is that it does not lead to addiction or to any disruption of the sleep-wake cycle.

The valerian root dry extract used is produced by an aqueous-alcoholic extraction (extract ratio 4:1). It contains no allergens and is of very high quality. The gelatin used in the hard gelatin capsules is BSE/TSE-tested pharmaceutical gelatin.
