Elastin is a key extracellular matrix (ECM) protein that is abundant in ligaments, blood vessels, and in the dermis, where it strengthens the network created by collagen fibers. Elastin molecules wrap around collagen, giving the structure it creates elasticity, thanks to which the skin remains firm and elastic. The third important structural element of the skin is hyaluronic acid, which has the ability to bind water molecules.

Unfortunately, over the years, the synthesis of elastin, collagen and hyaluronic acid in the body decreases. Moreover, in the skin, these ingredients are degraded under the influence of unfavorable factors such as UV radiation or free radicals. This leads to sagging and wrinkles.

Traditional Elastin vs Elastin F

Traditionally, elastin is obtained from bovine ligament, which may raise concerns about the disease bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE). This problem has led scientists to search for a safe alternative source of elastin peptide for nutraceutical and cosmetic purposes.

ELASTIN F. New generation elastin.

Elastin F is the highest quality natural elastin peptide obtained from skipjack tuna. Elastin F comes from the bulb arteriosus of fish, which is rich in elastin fibers.

The use of enzymatic biotransformation technology during the isolation and hydrolysis process means that the resulting elastin F peptides have an extremely low molecular weight (below 1000 Da) and are resistant to acidic environments. This clearly differentiates them from other types of elastin, which are commonly obtained from fish skin and beef ligaments and are characterized by much higher molecular weights and poorer absorption.

Due to their low molecular weight and the maintenance of the integrity of the cross-linked amino acids (desmosine and isodesmosine) even at low pH, elastin F peptides are highly soluble in water, which means that they can reach the skin unchanged. This makes them easily absorbed and incorporated directly into the skin structures.
