Description
- The drug has a depolymerizing effect on mucopolysaccharides and DNA fibers, thus dissolving all types of mucus that are responsible for mucus viscosity.
- N-acetylcysteine acts as an antioxidant and thus supports the body's defense mechanisms.
- After oral administration, SOLMUCOL® is practically completely absorbed. It reaches the maximum concentration in the serum one hour after administration. The distribution of N-acetylcysteine is good. It is excreted mainly by the kidneys in the form of inactive metabolites.
- The drug is usually taken in a dose of 20-30 ml divided into 1-3 daily doses (preferably in the evening). Children under 2 years are given 2.5 ml 3 times a day. Children from 2 to 12 years are given 5 ml 3 times a day. The syrup is drunk independently of food, preferably with a little liquid. The patient should be provided with a sufficient amount of fluids.
