Reactin, 7 capsules, McNeil

Indications:
The active substance in Reactin is cetirizine dihydrochloride.
Reactin is an antiallergic drug.
In adults, adolescents and children aged 12 years and over, Reactin 10 mg soft capsules is indicated:
-for the relief of nasal and ocular symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis.
-for the relief of chronic urticaria (chronic idiopathic urticaria).

Composition:
- The active substance is cetirizine dihydrochloride. One capsule contains 10 mg of cetirizine dihydrochloride.

Method of administration:
Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Please follow these instructions, otherwise Reactin may not be fully effective.
The capsules should be swallowed with a sufficient amount of liquid.
The recommended dose is:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age:
One 10 mg capsule once a day.
Duration of treatment:
The duration of treatment depends on the type, duration and progression of your symptoms and is determined by your doctor.

Contraindications:
Do not take Reactin
- if you have kidney disease (moderate to severe renal failure with creatinine clearance below 50 ml/min);
- if you are allergic to cetirizine dihydrochloride, hydroxyzine or piperazine derivatives (related active substances in other medicines) or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Reactin contains soybean oil. If you are allergic to peanuts or soybeans, do not use this medicine.

Precautions:
If you are a patient with liver and kidney disease, please consult your doctor; if necessary, you will take a lower dose. The new dose will be determined by your doctor.
If you have difficulty urinating, you should seek advice from your doctor.
If you have epilepsy or are at risk of seizures, you should seek advice from your doctor.
You should stop using this medicine at least 3 days before having allergy skin tests, as antihistamine medicines may affect the results of these tests.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
As with other medicines, the use of Reactin should be avoided in pregnant women. Accidental use of the medicine by a pregnant woman should not cause any harm to the foetus. However. As a result, the medicine should be discontinued. You should not take Reactin during breast-feeding, as cetirizine is excreted in breast milk.

Driving and using machines:
Clinical studies have not shown evidence of impairment of attention, alertness and ability to drive after administration of Reactin at the recommended dose, however caution is recommended when driving or using machines.
If you experience drowsiness you should refrain from driving, performing potentially hazardous activities or using machinery.
You should not exceed the recommended dose if you intend to drive, perform potentially hazardous activities or use machinery. After administration, you should carefully monitor your response to the medicine.
