Prospan, 26 mg, 20 oral gum, Engelhard Arzneimittel

Indications:
Prospan oral gum is used as an expectorant in case of productive cough.

Contraindications:
If you have hypersensitivity to the active substances, to plants from the Araliaceae family or to any of the excipients listed in the composition.

Precautions:
In case of dyspnea, fever or purulent sputum, the patient should seek medical advice.
Concomitant administration with antitussives derived from opioids, such as codeine or dextromethorphan,
it is not recommended without medical consultation.
Caution is advised in patients with gastritis or gastric ulcer.
Prospan oral gum is not indicated for use in children under 6 years of age.
This medicine contains sorbitol (E 420) and maltitol (E 965). Patients with hereditary intolerance to
fructose should not use this medicine.

Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
Safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established.
In the absence of sufficient data, use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended.

Driving vehicles and using machines:
No effects on the ability to drive vehicles and use machines are anticipated, if any
use according to recommendations

Administration method:
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Adults and children over 12 years – 1 oral gum 4 times a day (equivalent to dry ivy leaf extract 104 mg or a drug amount of 624 mg per day).

Children aged 6 to 12 years – 1 oral gum twice a day (equivalent to dry ivy leaf extract 52 mg or a drug amount of 312 mg per day).

Method of administration For oral administration – the oral gum must be sucked.
Oral gum should be allowed to dissolve in the mouth.
The medicine should be administered after a meal.
You should not lie down while sucking on the oral gum.

1 oral gum contains dry ivy leaf extract 26 mg (5-7.5 : 1).
Extraction agent: ethanol 30 % (m/m).
Excipients with known therapeutic effect:
