Loperamide, 2 mg, 10 capsules, Laropharm

Indications:
Loperamide Laropharm contains loperamide hydrochloride, which belongs to a group of medicines called antidiarrheals.
In case of diarrhea, Loperamid Laropharm 2 mg capsules make stools more consistent and less frequent.
Loperamide Laropharm 2 mg capsules are used to treat an episode of:
- acute diarrhea in adults and adolescents over 12 years of age;
- diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome in adults over 18 years of age.

Composition:
- The active substance is loperamide hydrochloride. Each capsule contains 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride.
- The other ingredients are: capsule contents - maize starch, lactose monohydrate, talc, magnesium stearate; capsule shell - titanium dioxide (E171), brilliant blue FCF (E133), carmoisine (E122), gelatin.

Method of administration:
Dosage and administration
You can take Loperamid Laropharm 2 mg capsules at any time of the day. The capsules should be swallowed with a sufficient amount of liquid.
Loperamid Laropharm 2 mg capsules will be referred to below as Loperamid Laropharm.
Do not take more than 6 Loperamid Laropharm capsules within 24 hours!
If diarrhea persists for more than 48 hours, stop taking Loperamid Laropharm and contact your doctor.
Treatment of acute diarrhea:
Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: Take 2 Loperamid Laropharm capsules once, then one Loperamid Laropharm capsule after each loose stool. If you have a hard or solid stool or if you go 24 hours without a bowel movement, stop taking the medicine.
Treatment of acute diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome:
Adults over 18 years of age: Initially take 2 Loperamid Laropharm capsules at a time, then one Loperamid Laropharm capsule after each loose stool, unless your doctor tells you otherwise. If repeated episodes of diarrhoea continue for more than two weeks, contact your doctor.

Contraindications:
Do not use Loperamid Laropharm 2 mg capsules if:
- you are allergic (hypersensitive) to loperamide hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6);
- you are under 12 years of age in the case of treating acute diarrhea (the form and strength of Loperamid Laropharm 2mg capsules are not intended for administration in this age group);
- you are under 18 years of age in the case of treating diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome;
- diarrhea occurs during treatment with antibiotics (broad-spectrum); it may be a sign of pseudomembranous colitis, in which case treatment with loperamide hydrochloride is not recommended;
- if you have inflammation of the lower abdomen (for example ulcerative colitis or pseudomembranous colitis as a result of antibiotic use);
- you have dysentery – diarrhea with blood in the stool or fever;

Precautions:
Treatment with loperamide hydrochloride is a symptomatic treatment, which means that Loperamide
Laropharm 2 mg capsules may make stools more consistent and less frequent, but it will not treat the cause of the diarrhoea. Whenever possible, the cause of the diarrhoea should also be treated.
In the case of a sudden (acute) episode of diarrhoea, Loperamid Laropharm 2 mg capsules usually stops the symptoms within 48 hours. If this does not happen, stop taking the treatment and contact your doctor.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
Although preclinical studies have not shown any embryotoxic or teratogenic potential for loperamide hydrochloride, and the excretion of the drug in breast milk is in very low concentrations, it is recommended to avoid administration during pregnancy and lactation. Any administration in these situations will be done strictly on the recommendation and under the supervision of a specialist, after careful weighing of the benefit-risk ratio.
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines:
This medicine may cause mild and transient drowsiness or vertigo (dizziness). It is recommended that you do not drive or use machines while taking loperamide.
