The active substance heparin

• Heparin, which is the main component of Lioton®, is known for its multiple effects. It acts on inflammatory mediators and can therefore relieve symptoms such as irritation or pain. In addition, heparin helps minimize the transfer of fluid from inflamed veins, which can help prevent swelling. It also reduces clotting, which promotes blood circulation.

What is Lioton® used for?

• For the treatment of symptoms of superficial vein disease (for example, symptoms typical of varicose veins and their complications: blood clots in the affected veins with or without inflammation of the vein wall; inflammation of the tissues around the veins and leg ulcers that appear on the skin above the area with varicose veins)
• For the treatment of inflammation of damaged veins after surgery

Lioton® is commonly used to alleviate complications often associated with vein disease:

• Thrombophlebitis – acute thrombosis and inflammation of superficial veins
• Periphlebitis – an inflammatory process in the tissues around the vein
• Varicophlebitis – inflammation of varicose veins
• Phlebothrombosis - characterized by complete or partial occlusion of a deep vein by a thrombus

Treatment of injuries, bruises and hematomas

• Subcutaneous hematoma is a manifestation of bruises and contusions.
• The cause is an injury to the superficial veins located under the skin.
• The subcutaneous hematoma must be treated. It's not just about relieving pain, the hematoma also prevents blood flow to the damaged tissue as the blood vessels in that area constrict to prevent the hematoma from expanding. The affected area should be kept in an elevated position to reduce blood flow to the injured tissue.
