Description

The drug contains the active substance macrogol 4000 and belongs to the group of drugs called osmotic laxatives. It works by adding water to the stool , which helps overcome problems caused by very slow bowel movements. The medicine is used to treat constipation in adults and children aged 8 years and older.

Doses and dosing schedules:

1-2 sachets (10-20g) per day, preferably in a single dose in the morning.
The daily dose should be adjusted to the clinical response and may vary from one sachet every other day (especially in children) to 2 sachets per day.
The effect of the drug appears in 24 to 48 hours after administration.
In children, treatment should not exceed 3 months due to the lack of clinical data with treatment longer than 3 months.

Mode of use

Just before use, the contents of each sachet (powder for oral solution) are mixed in about 50 ml of water and taken in the morning . The resulting solution is clear and transparent like water.

The drug should be used with caution in patients with impaired gag reflex and in patients prone to regurgitation or aspiration.
During the use of the drug, the absorption of other drugs, especially drugs with a narrow therapeutic index or a short half-life (for example, digoxin, antiepileptics, coumarins and immunosuppressants) may be temporarily reduced, which leads to a reduced effectiveness of these drugs. .
The drug contains macrogol (polyethylene glycol), which can cause hypersensitivity reactions (anaphylactic shock, angioedema, urticaria, skin rashes, itching and erythema).
The medicine contains sulfur dioxide.
The medicine contains sorbitol.
The drug does not contain a significant amount of sugar or polyol and therefore can be prescribed to pediatric diabetic patients or children on a galactose-free diet.
The adjustment of intestinal motility induced by the treatment should be maintained by an appropriate diet and lifestyle – increased intake of fluids and dietary fiber and recommendation for adequate physical activity and restoration of bowel habits.
