Ambroxol EGIS 3 mg/ml syrup x 100 ml

Ambroxol EGIS 3 mg/ml syrup x 100 ml is a mucolytic medicine, which liquefies bronchial secretions and favors their elimination.

Indications:

Chronic or acute diseases of the respiratory tract such as asthma and bronchitis, dilation of the respiratory tract associated with an abnormal secretion of mucus and sputum. Facilitation of mucus dissolution in nasal and pharyngeal inflammatory diseases. The medicine does not relieve dry cough.

Administration method:

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

The recommended dosage for ambroxol Egis syrup is as follows:

• adults and children over 12 years old: the dose is 10 ml syrup x 3 times a day in the first 2-3 days, and for the following days the dose is 10 ml x 2 times a day or 5 ml syrup x 3 times a day .
• Children aged between 5-12 years: 5 ml x 2-3 times a day
• Children aged between 2-5 years: 2.5 ml x 3 times a day
• Children under 2 years of age: 2.5ml x 2 times a day.

The preparation should be taken after a meal with a large amount of liquid. Consuming large amounts of liquid favors the liquefaction of mucus caused by ambroxol.

Precautions and contraindications:

Do not use ambroxol Egis syrup if:

• you are allergic to ambroxol, bromhexine or any of the other components of this medicine (listed in point 6).
• you have hereditary fructose absorption problems.
• Before using ambroxol Egis, consult your doctor or pharmacist;
• if you have or have had ulcerative diseases in the gastrointestinal tract.
• in the case of bronchomotor disorders and if a significant amount of mucus is secreted
• in severe kidney or liver diseases.ű

Serious skin drug reactions associated with ambroxol administration have been reported. If you experience a rash on the skin (including lesions of the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, nose, eyes, genitals), immediately stop taking ambroxol Egis syrup and consult your doctor immediately.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding:

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant or intend to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for recommendations before taking this medicine.

Ambroxol Egis syrup is not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Possible side effects:

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Rare reactions: hypersensitivity reactions, skin rash, urticaria

Less frequently can occur: gastrointestinal disorders (nausea, vomiting, epigastralgia)

Very rarely: headache, dizziness, drowsiness or restlessness

With unknown frequency: anaphylactic reactions including anaphylactic shock, angioedema (rapid swelling of the skin, subcutaneous tissue, mucous and submucosal tissues) and pruritus. Severe adverse skin reactions (including erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis and acute generalized exanthematic pustulosis).

Composition:

The active substance is ambroxol. One milliliter of syrup contains ambroxol hydrochloride 3 mg.

The other components are: sodium citrate, sodium benzoate, banana flavor, strawberry flavor, sodium cyclamate, citric acid monohydrate, povidone, sorbitol, purified water.
