Dermodrin ointment, 20 grams, Montavit
Description
Dermodrin ointment, 20 grams, Montavit
Indications:
It is indicated in the treatment of pruritus (itchy skin), local pain and hypersensitivity reactions (excessive or abnormal immune defense reaction of the body, allergic) in the case of:
- dermatological diseases with an allergic component;
- insect bites.
Composition:
Diphenhydramine hydrochloride, arachis oil, white wax, cetyl alcohol, solid paraffin, white petrolatum, methyl p-hydroxybenzoate (0.15% w/w), glycerol, hostacerin T-3, polysorbate 80, isobornyl acetate, sodium hydroxide, purified water.
Method of administration:
Unless otherwise recommended by your doctor, apply a quantity of 1 to 3 g of Dermodrin ointment (corresponding to a cherry-sized to walnut-sized amount) to the affected area of skin.
Adults repeat this application 4 to 6 times a day.
Children: a maximum of 4-5 applications daily are recommended.
If the condition does not improve after 2 weeks of continuous treatment, you should consult your doctor.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity to diphenhydramine hydrochloride, to antihistamines with related structure or to any of the excipients.
- Hypersensitivity to peanuts or soy.
- Skin lesions, such as: infected dermatoses, moist skin lesions.
- Application to large skin surfaces.
- Dermodrin ointment should not be applied to open lesions or mucous membranes.
- Viral infections (e.g. chickenpox, measles).
- In the first three months of pregnancy.
- Newborns or children under 2 years of age. There are no data available on the safety and efficacy of Dermodrin in children under 2 years of age.
Precautions:
The medicine should not be applied to mucous membranes or eyes or to sensitive skin surfaces.
Skin surfaces treated with Dermodrin ointment should not be exposed to the sun, due to the risk of photosensitivity reactions.
This medicine contains peanut oil. If you are allergic to peanut or soya, you should not use this medicine.
Dermodrin contains methyl p-hydroxybenzoate (E 218). May cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
Dermodrin contains cetyl alcohol. It may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Pregnancy and breastfeeding:
Dermodrin ointment is contraindicated in the first 3 months of pregnancy, because epidemiological data obtained in a small number of pregnant women who were administered diphenhydramine in the first trimester of pregnancy indicated an increased probability of a malformation in the newborn - cleft palate.
During the rest of the pregnancy, due to the lack of sufficient data and the systemic absorption of the drug, administration and especially application to large areas of the body should be avoided, especially if the skin is infected or has lesions.
Dermodrin ointment is contraindicated during breastfeeding, as the active substance (diphenhydramine) can pass into breast milk.
Driving and using machines:
No effects on the ability to drive and use machines are expected.
