Mezym Forte 20000, 20 tablets, Berlin-Chemie Ag

Indications:
In disorders of the exocrine function of the pancreas caused by chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, nutritional disorders, flatulence and the Roemheldscher symptomatic complex; recommended in simultaneous resections of the stomach and small intestine, accelerated intestinal transit (nervousness, infectious intestinal diseases), disorders in the hepatobiliary system, dyspepsia; simultaneous administration of vegetable, fatty or difficult to digest food. Mezym forte is also indicated for the elimination of gases from the intestine before diagnostic explorations (x-ray therapy).

Composition:
Pork pancreatin with a minimum activity of: lipase 3500 FIP units amylase 4 200 FIP units protease 250 FIP units

Method of administration:
The dose is determined individually. Generally, 1-2 tablets are taken at the beginning of a meal. Depending on the nature of the food ingested and the known degree of pancreatic insufficiency, 2-4 tablets can be administered during the meal. The individual dose may be even higher. The dosage for children is only within the competence of the doctor. The tablets are swallowed before a meal, with a little liquid. The duration of administration is determined by the doctor.

Contraindications:
Do not use Mezym20000:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to pancreatic enzymes, to proteins of porcine origin or to
any of the other components of Mezym 20000.
- if you have acute pancreatitis or exacerbations of chronic pancreatitis in the most advanced stage of the disease.

Precautions:
A rare condition called “fibrosing colonopathy,” a condition in which the intestine is narrowed, has been reported in patients with cystic fibrosis who use high doses of pancreatin-containing products.
However, if you have cystic fibrosis and are taking more than 10,000 lipase units/kg per day and have unusual abdominal pain or changes in abdominal symptoms, tell your doctor.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Your doctor will decide whether you should use Mezym and in what dose.
Mezym can be used during breastfeeding after careful evaluation by the doctor of the benefit to the mother/risk to the infant ratio.

Driving and using machines:
Mezym 20000 has no effects on the ability to drive and use machines.
