L-Mesitran Hydro is a hydroactive, low-adherence dressing containing honey for use on acute and chronic wounds. L-Mesitran Hydro & Border is a sterile, semi-permeable dressing containing honey, acrylic polymer gel and water, with a polyurethane film base, without an adhesive border. The honey hydrogel insert provides moisture to rehydrate dry tissue and is also able to absorb low levels of exudate to maintain a moist environment conducive to wound healing. The foil base provides a dressing with barrier properties for bacteria. The adhesive border with the L-Mesitran border allows the dressing to be firmly attached. This is useful when patients shower or bathe with the dressing in place.

Directions

L-Mesitran Hydro & Border is indicated for chronic wounds such as: supporting superficial and partial deep ulcers; venous, arterial and diabetic ulcers; fungal lesions. Acute wounds such as donor sites, surgical wounds, cuts and abrasions are also indicated.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Do not use on people with known sensitivity to the dressing or its ingredients. The dressing should not be used on:

• Severe draining wounds.

• Complete burns.

• Deep narrow cavity.

• The sinuses.

PREVENTIVE MEASURES AND COMMENTS

The dressing can be used on contaminated and colonized wounds. However, when wounds are clinically infected, use should be discontinued and appropriate medical supervision should be sought. Any additional treatment for infections should be initiated according to local protocols and under medical supervision. Hydro L-Mesitran does not contain an adhesive border, therefore it is not resistant to spraying. The L-Mesitran frame can be used for the shower. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

1 Inspect and, if necessary, clean the wound according to local protocols.

2 Select the appropriate dressing size, ensuring that the gel pad overlaps the wound edges by approximately 2.5 cm.

3 Remove the sterile dressing from the package.

4 First, remove half of the protective plastic layer.

5 Gently place the exposed side of the gel on the wound and remove the other half of the protective plastic liner.

6 Once completely removed from the top of the dressing, ensure that the L-Mesitran border adhesives are not in contact with the wound surface and are properly adhered.

7 Make sure the Hydro L-Mesitran is fixed in place.

8 Check the wound and surrounding tissue regularly according to local protocol.

9. If you have an intolerance to the dressing or one of its components, remove the dressing using appropriate techniques and clean the area thoroughly.

STORAGE AND PRECAUTIONS

The dressing may remain in place for up to five days, depending on the amount of wound exudate. Change the dressing before it becomes saturated with exudate or if it is damaged: by puncture, partial removal, or leakage of exudate. Complete and gentle removal of the dressing can be assisted by irrigation. Each dressing is single use. Do not use after the expiry date. Store between 5°C and 25°C. Avoid direct sunlight and moisture.

Research results show that the most common bacteria found in wounds, such as Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA and ESBL, die within 24-48 hours after using the preparation. The antibacterial effect of L-Mesitran is based on high osmolality, low pH and the ability to produce hydrogen peroxide (H2O2).
