What is HYLO-COMOD?
HYLO-COMOD is a sterile, preservative-free solution containing 1 mg/ml sodium hyaluronate, a citrate buffer, sorbitol and water.
What is HYLO-COMOD used for?
To improve lubrication of the ocular surface in dry, burning eyes or eyes with foreign body sensation due to environmental conditions and after ophthalmic surgery.
When to use HYLO-COMOD?
If you experience itching, burning, or easily tired eyes, or if you feel like sand is in your eyes, it could be due to a lack of moisture on the ocular surface. For example, if you spend a lot of time in air-conditioned environments, or after intense computer work, the natural tear film that normally covers the ocular surface breaks down more quickly. To keep the ocular tissue healthy, it is necessary to continuously lubricate it with a tear film.
Due to eye surgery or eye injuries, physiological tear secretion may be reduced. However, adequate and continuous lubrication is necessary for the regeneration of the eye's surface tissues. The application of HYLO-COMOD provides long-lasting moisture to the cornea and conjunctiva, effectively supporting the physiological healing process.
HYLO-COMOD contains the sodium salt of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance found within the eye and elsewhere in the body. Thanks to its unique physical properties, it forms a continuous, moist, lubricating, stable, and long-lasting film on the ocular surface that is not easily removed. However, this film does not cause blurring of vision and provides long-lasting protection from dryness and irritation.
This is especially important if you wear contact lenses, as they must be immersed in sufficient tear fluid to avoid discomfort. You can use HYLO-COMOD while wearing contact lenses. Wearing hard or soft contact lenses will be more comfortable if you use HYLO-COMOD because it doesn't create encrustation or residue.
HYLO-COMOD is preservative-free and is therefore generally well tolerated. Furthermore, HYLO-COMOD is phosphate-free, thus avoiding complications such as residues in the cornea.
The commercially available COMOD system releases 10 ml of solution, equivalent to approximately 300 drops. For technical reasons, once the liquid is finished, a small amount remains in the bottle.
You can use HYLO-COMOD for an unlimited period of time.
The HYLO-COMOD bottle is strictly personal; do not allow other people to use it.
How to apply HYLO-COMOD?
Figure 1: Remove cap before use.
Figure 2: Before the first application, turn the bottle upside down with the dropper facing down and press the bottom of the bottle to release the first drop. The bottle is now ready for subsequent applications. Hold the bottle upside down by placing your thumb on the top of the bottle and your other fingers on the bottom.
Figure 3: Support the hand holding the bottle with your free hand.
Figure 4: Tilt your head back slightly and press quickly and firmly on the bottom of the bottle. This activates the mechanism for releasing ONE drop . Thanks to the COMOD System's special valve mechanism, the size and speed of release of a drop are always the same, regardless of the pressure applied.
Close your eyes slowly to allow the fluid to spread over the surface of the eye.
Figure 5: After use, immediately replace the cap on the bottle, ensuring there is no liquid residue on the dropper. During instillation, avoid contact between the dropper and your eyes or face.
What other information do you need to know?
If using other eye drops, allow at least 30 minutes between applications, and HYLOCOMOD should always be used last. However, any eye ointments should always be applied after using HYLO-COMOD.
Because it contains no preservatives, HYLO-COMOD is well tolerated even when used over a long period of time. In very rare cases, hypersensitivity reactions such as burning or excessive tearing have occurred, which resolved immediately upon discontinuation of HYLO-COMOD use.
HYLO-COMOD can be used in pediatric age, during pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Frequency and duration of use of HYLO-COMOD
Use HYLO-COMOD according to the instructions provided by your doctor or contact lens specialist. Typically, apply one drop of HYLO-COMOD three times a day to each eye. Use more frequently if necessary. If you use HYLO-COMOD more frequently (for example, more than 10 times a day), contact your ophthalmologist. HYLO-COMOD is suitable for long-term treatment. As with any problem, consult your ophthalmologist if it persists.
When not to use HYLO-COMOD?
Do not use HYLO-COMOD in case of hypersensitivity to one of the excipients.
Necessary information on the storage of HYLO-COMOD
Store at room temperature.
HYLO-COMOD can be used for 6 months after opening.
