Each capsule of Cholester dietary supplement contains 94 mg of fermented red rice, which corresponds to 2.8 mg of monacolin K. This compound is lovastatin naturally present in red rice, which is a traditional dish of oriental cuisine. Monacolin is produced in the fermentation of rice ( Oryza sativa ) grains using the filamentous fungus Monascus purpureus .
In addition, cholesterol is a source of choline, which contributes to the correct metabolism of fats and helps the liver function properly. In turn, thiamine supports the proper functioning of the nervous system and the heart. However, folate helps with proper blood production and vitamin B12 supports the maintenance of proper homocysteine levels. Vitamin B6 is necessary to maintain proper energy metabolism.
The daily portion of the food supplement Cholester contains 100 mg of plant sterols. Plant sterols help maintain normal blood cholesterol levels. The beneficial effect occurs when a minimum of 0.8 g of plant sterols is consumed per day, from all food sources.
