ACTION AND MECHANISM

Combination of eye decongestant with antiseptic.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

- Allergy to the medication.- [CLOSED ANGLE GLAUCOMA] or predisposition to it, since the mydriasis produced could precipitate angle block.

INDICATIONS

- Treatment of [CONJUNCTIVITIS], mild eye itching and irritation.

GUIDELINES FOR PROPER ADMINISTRATION

- Wash your hands.
- Look upwards. Pull down your lower eyelid to make a pouch.
- Hold the dropper as close as possible to the sac without touching the eye. To avoid contamination of the medication, it is important that the tip of the applicator does not come into contact with any surface (including the eye).
- Apply the prescribed amount of eye drops to the bag.
- Blink a couple of times to spread the drop over the entire surface of the eye.
- Close your eye for about two minutes (don't close it too tightly) or press on the nasolacrimal margin to reduce systemic absorption.
If another topical eye medication is being used, this medication should be applied at least ten minutes apart. Eye ointments should be applied last.

POSOLOGY

Ophthalmic. Adults and children over 6 years: 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye, every 6-8 hours.

PRECAUTIONS

- May mask symptoms in patients with eye infections. - Due to the possibility of systemic absorption, it should not be used indiscriminately in patients with high blood pressure, angina, or hyperthyroidism. - If there is no clinical improvement within 72 hours, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. - Pregnancy: Safety in pregnant women has not been established. - Breastfeeding: It is unknown whether it is excreted in breast milk after ophthalmic administration. - Due to the color of the preparation, contact lenses should not be worn during treatment.

PRECAUTIONS RELATING TO EXCIPIENTS

- Because it contains benzalkonium chloride, it may cause eye irritation.

- It may cause discoloration and alterations to soft contact lenses, so contact with them should be avoided. Contact lenses must be removed before application and at least 15 minutes should elapse before reinserting them.

ADVERSE REACTIONS

Occasionally, stinging, burning, blurred vision. With excessive use or high doses: rebound congestion (redness and irritation). Rarely, signs of systemic absorption: headaches, palpitations, nervousness, nausea, weakness, sweating.

Naphazoline (ophthalmic): 0.25 milligrams - hydrochloride
BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE (EXCIPIENT): 0.1 MILLIGRAMS
