Canesten Gyn Uno, 500 mg, 1 vaginal capsule, Bayer

Canesten Gyn Uno is used for the treatment of infections of the vagina and external female genitalia caused by microorganisms sensitive to clotrimazole.

Infections are usually caused by fungi of the genus Candida.

Symptoms include itching, burning sensation, and heavy vaginal discharge.

The active substance in Canesten Gyn Uno is clotrimazole, which belongs to the group of medicines called imidazole derivatives. It has a broad spectrum of action against fungi, meaning it destroys fungi and inhibits their growth. It is effective against microorganisms such as dermatophytes, yeasts and molds.

Method of administration:

This medicine can be used by adult women and adolescents from the age of 16:

• a soft vaginal capsule inserted deeply into the vagina in a single dose, in the evening

It is not recommended to use Canesten Gyn Uno during menstruation. The treatment should be completed before the start of menstruation. If you are pregnant, insert the soft vaginal capsule into the vagina with your fingers, without the applicator provided in the package.

If your sexual partner has symptoms of a yeast infection, they should be treated at the same time - ask your doctor or pharmacist for recommendations.

This medicine is administered according to the package leaflet and according to the recommendations of the doctor and pharmacist.

Active ingredients:

Each soft capsule contains clotrimazole 500 mg.

Precautions:

Do not use Canesten Gyn Uno if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.

Before using Canesten Gyn Uno, talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have:

• a vaginal infection for the first time
• recurrent infections (at least 4 infections within 1 year)
• fever of 38 °C or higher
• lower abdominal pain, back pain
• abundant vaginal secretions with an unpleasant odor
• nausea
• vaginal bleeding and/or simultaneous shoulder pain.

Do not use tampons, vaginal douches, spermicides or other vaginal products at the same time as Canesten Gyn Uno.

Avoid sexual contact while using this medicine as the infection may be passed on to your sexual partner. The effectiveness of latex contraceptive products, such as condoms and diaphragms, may be reduced while using Canesten GYN Uno.

The effectiveness of vaginal spermicides may also be reduced. It is recommended to use other contraceptive measures during treatment and for 5 days after stopping it.

In adolescents under 16 years of age, Canesten Gyn Uno should not be used without the recommendation of a doctor.

As a precautionary measure, the use of clotrimazole should be avoided during the first three months of pregnancy. The use of Canesten Gyn Uno is not recommended during breast-feeding. As a precautionary measure, it is recommended to discontinue breast-feeding during treatment and seek the advice of your doctor or pharmacist.

Do not swallow Canesten Gyn Uno.
