Why choose Cafédirect Machu Picchu?
The coffee cherries for this coffee were hand-picked by farmers from the Peruvian cooperative HUADQUINA just when they were perfectly ripe. Coffee beans are obtained from cherries by washing them in spring water (so-called " washing "), then they are dried on large boards outside in the sun. The entire growing, harvesting and processing process meets high quality standards so you can enjoy excellent organic coffee.
Depending on the thickness of the grind, you can use the coffee for any preparation method. It is especially excellent for making espresso, to which it adds its captivating aroma. It is also ideal for brewing coffee in a French press. Stronger roasting suppresses the natural acidity of the Arabica. In the case of Machu Picchu coffee, it is a coffee with a slightly full flavor, with a hint of cocoa and nuts , without a bitter finish. The cocoa-nut flavor is caused by the specific composition of the volcanic soil in the Machu Picchu area.
HUADQUINA
The HUADQUINA coffee cooperative is located in the Peruvian region of Cusco, near Machu Picchu (UNESCO World Heritage). Hand-tended by farmers, coffee trees grow in the best possible climate on the steep slopes of the Andes at high altitudes, surrounded by tropical valleys.
Cafédirect obtains its coffee beans directly from the HUADQUINA cooperative, with which it has cooperated directly since 1996. Cafédirect returns more than 50% of its profits directly to the cooperatives it cooperates with. In the case of the HUADQUINA cooperative, the cooperation has lasted for more than 20 years. As a result, cooperatives train farmers in quality control, natural resource management, coffee taste testing, proper harvesting, coffee farm management, and coffee plantation restoration to ensure high-quality, sustainable coffee.
