Read the leaflet carefully and completely before you start using this medicine, because it contains important information for you.
Always use this medicine as directed in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Indications:
Aspaco is indicated for the short-term symptomatic treatment of pain of mild to moderate intensity, with different locations: headache, migraine, toothache, muscle or joint pain or in case of painful menstruation and the treatment of febrile conditions.
This medicine contains codeine. Codeine belongs to a class of drugs called opioid analgesics, which relieve pain through their action. Since Aspaco also contains paracetamol, the administration of other preparations containing paracetamol or codeine is not indicated.
Composition:
- The active substances are acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol and codeine. One tablet contains acetylsalicylic acid 300 mg, paracetamol 250 mg and codeine phosphate hemihydrate 12 mg.
- The other components are corn starch, talc, stearic acid, povidone K 30, pregelatinized starch.
Administration method:
Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age: the recommended dose is one tablet taken orally, as needed. If necessary, the dose can be repeated at intervals of 4-6 hours, without exceeding 4 tablets in a 24-hour interval.
Contraindications:
Do not use ASPACO
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to acetylsalicylic acid, paracetamol, codeine or any of the other components of ASPACO,
- in children and adolescents under the age of 15,
Precautions:
Before using ASPACO, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Pregnancy, fertility and breast-feeding:
Paracetamol can be administered in the short term during pregnancy, at therapeutic doses, after evaluating the ratio of maternal therapeutic benefit/potential risk to the fetus.
Preclinical studies have demonstrated the teratogenic effect (generator of congenital malformations) of codeine, therefore the drug is contraindicated during pregnancy.
Salicylates and their metabolites are excreted in small amounts in breast milk.
Paracetamol crosses the placenta and is excreted in breast milk in the proportion of 1–2% of the administered dose.
Codeine is excreted in breast milk; cases of hypotonia, apnea or respiratory depression have been described in children after the ingestion of very high doses of codeine by their mothers.
Do not take codeine while breastfeeding. Codeine and morphine pass into breast milk.
Therefore, the administration of this medicine is contraindicated during breastfeeding.
Driving and using machines:
ASPACO has a major influence on the ability to drive or use machines. Therefore, it is contraindicated in people who drive vehicles or use machines.
