Argan comes from the argan tree, an ancient tree that grows mainly in the arid regions of Morocco.Known for centuries by the Berbers, Argan Oil, used in cooking and with a delicate hazelnut flavour, is also highly appreciated for its numerous cosmetic properties for the skin and hair.
It is obtained from the stone of the fruit (the Argan nut) which contains from one to three almonds, called almonds, which are collected and selected specifically on the tree to be freshly pressed.
If you buy an argan oil with a very pronounced or even almost fecal smell, it is likely that the almonds used were collected from the ground, sometimes in a state of decomposition or even previously digested by goats.
