Description
Panangin 158 mg/140 mg, 50 film-coated tablets, Gedeon Richter Romania
This medicine is intended as an additional treatment in certain chronic heart conditions (heart failure, after a heart attack [myocardial infarction]) and heart rhythm disorders.
In addition, it is used to supplement the intake of potassium and magnesium.
Composition:
- The active substances are: anhydrous potassium aspartate and anhydrous magnesium aspartate
- Each film-coated tablet contains 158 mg potassium aspartate anhydrous (as 166.3 mg potassium aspartate hemihydrate) and 140 mg anhydrous magnesium aspartate (as 175 mg magnesium aspartate tetrahydrate).
How to use:
- Unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor, the usual dose is 1 to 2 film-coated tablets three times a day
- The daily dose can be increased to 3 film-coated tablets three times a day
- Gastric acidity can affect the effectiveness of the treatment, so it is recommended to take Panangin after a meal.
If you use more Panangin than you should:
- No cases of overdose have been reported
- If you have taken a larger amount of Panangin, the concentration of potassium and magnesium in the blood will increase and clinical manifestations may occur
- You must stop taking Panangin if you have taken more.
Precautions and contraindications:
Panangin film-coated tablets can only be used under medical supervision in disorders potentially associated with a high level of potassium in the blood.
Panangin together with other drugs:
- Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines
- Oral tetracyclines (certain antibiotics), iron salts and sodium fluoride inhibit the absorption of Panangin. A minimum of 3 hours must pass between the ingestion of these drugs and the administration of Panangin film-coated tablets
- Concomitant administration of potassium-sparing diuretics and/or ACE inhibitors (medicines to lower blood pressure) may lead to high potassium levels.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine
- There are no available data to suggest that this preparation would have a harmful effect in these situations.
