Description Nisita
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.nl team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Nisita is a medicinal product for the care of the nasal mucosa, recognised for its ability to restore the physiological hydration of the nasal cavities, support the natural cleansing function of the mucosa and relieve the sensation of dryness or nasal obstruction, regardless of aetiology. Nisita offers a carefully measured combination of sodium chloride and sodium bicarbonate, two mineral salts that play an essential role in maintaining the osmolar balance of nasal secretions, respectively in liquefying dry crusts and optimising mucociliary clearance.
Forms of release
Nisita is available in two distinct pharmaceutical forms, each tailored to the specific needs of the patient: nasal spray or nasal ointment.
Nisita nasal spray (20 ml) contains an isotonic solution consisting of 3.3 mg sodium chloride and 8.3 mg sodium bicarbonate per millilitre in purified water. It does not contain preservatives and is suitable for frequent use, including in infants.
Nisita nasal ointment (20 g) contains 2.8 g of sodium chloride and 7.2 g of sodium bicarbonate, along with emollient excipients such as lanolin, soft white paraffin, medium-chain triglycerides and liquid paraffin. The formula contains lemon oil for a pleasant smell.
Indications for use
Nisita products are recommended in the following situations:
- Dryness of the nasal mucosa, regardless of the cause (dry climate, heated rooms, air conditioning, exposure to pollutants).
- Adjuvant treatment for colds and nasal obstruction, by moistening the mucosa and facilitating the elimination of secretions.
- Daily cleaning of the nasal mucosa, especially in people exposed to dust, allergens or temperature variations.
- Removal of nasal crusts by emollient and fluidifying action.
- Nasal hygiene for infants and young children, including long-term use.
Dosage regimen
For Nisita nasal spray:
- Adults and children over 2 years of age: 1–2 sprays in each nostril, several times a day, as needed
- Infants and children under 2 years of age: 1 spray in each nostril, several times a day.
For Nisita nasal ointment:
- Apply approximately 1 cm of ointment in each nostril, several times a day.
- Gently insert the applicator tube into the nasal cavity; the ointment can also be applied with a cotton swab.
- It is preferable that one of the applications be made before bedtime for a prolonged effect.
Contraindications
Nisita is contraindicated in cases of known hypersensitivity to any of the product's ingredients, especially lanolin or cetostearyl alcohol in the case of the ointment.
Caution is advised in patients with recent traumatic injuries or nasal surgery, where use should be recommended by a doctor.
Special instructions for use
For infants, administration should be done gently to avoid irritation of the mucosa.
The ointment provides a longer-lasting emollient effect, which is useful during periods of prolonged exposure to dry air or in cases of persistent crusting. The spray is preferable for frequent use and daily cleaning.
Side effects
Nisita is generally well tolerated, but the following may occur:
- Mild local irritation, transient stinging or tingling sensation.
- Rare cases of allergic reactions to excipients (especially lanolin in the case of the ointment).
No significant systemic reactions have been reported.
Interactions with other medicines and food
Nisita has no known interactions with intranasally or systemically administered medicines.
It can be used concomitantly with vasoconstrictive nasal treatments, corticosteroids or antihistamines, acting as a supportive agent through hydration.
Overdose
The risk of overdose is extremely low, as the ingredients are physiological and minimally absorbed systemically. Excessive use may only cause local irritation or discomfort.
Storage
Store at room temperature (below 25°C), away from frost. Store in the original packaging, tightly closed. Keep out of the reach of children. Once opened, the product can be used until the expiry date stated on the packaging.
