Description Milestones
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.nl team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Milestones is a range of paediatric dietary supplements developed by GNC, designed to meet the specific nutritional needs of children at different stages of growth, from infancy to pre-adolescence. The Milestones range brings together formulas based on vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fatty acids, clinically studied probiotic cultures and colostrum with immunological benefits.
Forms
The Milestones range is varied to cater for differences in age, tolerance and ease of administration: chewable tablets, jellies, drops or sachets.
For example, GNC Milestones Kids chewable tablets, for children aged 2 to 12 years, with a natural berry flavour, are easy to chew and contain no artificial colours or flavours.
Milestones gummies contain multivitamins, Omega-3 fatty acids or DHA and are suitable for children over 2 years of age, with natural flavours and free from gluten or dairy.
Directions for use
GNC Milestones products can be used to:
- Support the immune system, thanks to vitamins C, D, A, zinc and antioxidant compounds.
- Supporting healthy bone and tooth development, thanks to vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids and DHA.
- Eye health, thanks to lutein, vitamin A and vitamin E.
- Cognitive development and the maintenance of optimal brain function, thanks to DHA, EPA and B-complex vitamins.
- Digestive health and gut microbiota balance, supported by the probiotics LAB4B® and Saccharomyces boulardii.
- Reduction of sleep disturbances in children, thanks to the supply of DHA.
Dosage regimen
The dosage regimen for products in the Milestones range varies depending on the form of the product and the child’s age.
For chewable multivitamins intended for children aged 2 to 12 years, it is recommended to administer two tablets per day, whilst for children over 6 years of age, the paediatrician may recommend an additional dose, depending on individual nutritional needs.
In the case of multivitamin jellies, children aged between 2 and 3 years can take one jelly per day, whilst those aged 4 years and over require two jellies per day to ensure an optimal intake of vitamins.
Contraindications
There are some precautions to be taken when using GNC Milestones:
- Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
- Children with swallowing difficulties: the jellies should only be given to children who are used to chewing solid foods
Consumption is contraindicated if the inner seal is damaged. The products are not intended to replace a balanced diet.
Special instructions for use
Administration must only take place under adult supervision, as the jellies may pose a choking hazard if not chewed properly.
Consumption must be discontinued 2 weeks prior to surgery, as nutrients such as vitamin E or EPA may affect blood clotting.
Paediatric consultation is recommended for children with chronic conditions, allergies, severe digestive disorders or undergoing concurrent treatments.
Side effects
Side effects are rare and usually mild:
- Temporary gastrointestinal disturbances (bloating, loose stools) upon introduction of probiotics.
- Allergic reactions (skin rashes, itching, swelling), particularly with formulas containing colostrum or fish oil.
- Nausea or abdominal discomfort following excessive consumption of jellies.
Interactions with other medicines and foods
Vitamin D may require a dosage adjustment in children taking prescribed supplements at the same time.
Probiotics should be taken at a distance from antibiotics (2–3 hours) to maintain the effectiveness of the cultures.
DHA and EPA may slightly increase the effect of anticoagulant drugs, which is why a preliminary assessment is necessary in specific cases.
Overdose
Accidental overdose of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E) is possible and requires medical monitoring, but the products are formulated to minimise risks at the recommended doses. Excessive consumption of gelatine may cause nausea, abdominal pain or diarrhoea. In the event of a severe overdose, it is recommended to seek immediate medical advice.
Storage conditions
Store in the original packaging, away from moisture. Store in a cool, dry place. Protect from heat, direct light and sources of fire (gummies and chewable tablets may be sensitive to temperature). Keep out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date.
