Indications:
Scobusal contains butylscopolamine bromide which belongs to the group of medicines called belladonna alkaloids.
It is used to relieve painful abdominal spasms from gastrointestinal, biliary and urogenital disorders (renal colic, biliary colic, uterine spasms, cystitis, dysmenorrhea).
It is also used to relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome or for pain during the menstrual cycle.
It is indicated for adults, adolescents and children over 6 years of age.
Composition:
-The active substance is butylscopolamine bromide. One tablet contains 10 mg of butylscopolamine bromide.
Mode of administration:
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Scobusal is administered orally. Tablets are administered (swallowed) whole, with a sufficient amount of liquid, preferably water.
Adults and adolescents: the recommended dose is 2 Scobusal tablets, 4 times a day. To relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, the recommended initial dose is one Scobusal tablet, 3 times a day. If necessary, this dose can be increased to 2 Scobusal tablets, 4 times a day.
Children aged between 6 and 12 years: the recommended dose is one Scobusal tablet, 3 times a day.
Contraindications:
Do not use Scobusal:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to butylscopolamine bromide or to any of the other components of this medicine;
- Scobusal is not recommended for children under 6 years of age.
Precautions:
Before using Scobusal, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
It is not recommended to use Scobusal during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
Driving vehicles and using machines:
In general, Scobusal has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.
However, some patients may experience visual disturbances. If this happens to you too, wait until your vision returns to normal before you drive or use machines.
