Canesten cream 10mg/g, 20 g, Bayer
Description
Canesten cream 10mg/g, 20 g, Bayer
Indications:
Clotrimazole, the active substance of Canesten cream, penetrates the affected layers of the skin and attacks the fungi. The result is the destruction of fungi and the inhibition of their growth. Canesten cream is indicated in the treatment of cutaneous and mucous mycoses caused by dermatophytes, fungi, yeasts and microorganisms such as Malassezia furfur and skin infections caused by Corynebacterium minutissimum.
Composition:
- The active substance is clotrimazole. One gram of cream contains clotrimazole 10 mg.
- The other components are: octododecanol, cetostearyl alcohol, cetyl palmitate, sorbitan stearate, polysorbate 60, benzyl alcohol, purified water.
Mode of administration:
Always use Canesten exactly as your doctor has told you. You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Canesten cream is administered cutaneously. Apply the cream 2-3 times a day, in a thin layer and gently massage until the cream penetrates the skin. Generally, about ½ cm of cream is enough to treat an area the size of your palm.
For infections of the labia (candidal vulvitis) and adjacent areas, candidal balanitis and inflammation of the glans penis, apply the cream to the affected area of the skin (for example from the vagina to the anus), 1-3 times a day.
For foot infections, it is recommended to wash and dry the feet, especially between the toes, before applying the cream.
The duration of the treatment varies depending on the severity of the infection and its location.
To ensure a complete cure, the treatment must be continued according to the indications below: the duration of the treatment is:
- cutaneous mycoses, including athlete's foot: 3-4 weeks.
- erythrasma: 2-4 weeks.
- pityriasis versicolor: 1-3 weeks.
- vulvitis and candidal balanitis: 1-2 weeks.

The effectiveness of vaginal spermicides may also be decreased. It is recommended to use other contraceptive measures during the treatment and for another 5 days after its interruption.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
In humans, there are no studies on the effects of clotrimazole on fertility; however, animal studies have shown no effect of clotrimazole on fertility.
