Deflagyn
Description Deflagyn
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.nl team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
DeflaGyn is a class IIa vaginal gel designed to support spontaneous remission and regression of cervical lesions associated with HPV infections and other cervico-vaginal conditions.
Containing micronized silicon dioxide and DEFLAMIN® (an antioxidant with biologically active selenium), this product is especially used during periods of close observation and provides a non-invasive solution to support cervical health.
Forms of release
DeflaGyn is available as a vaginal gel, packaged in bottles with 2 reusable applicators. This allows optimal and direct administration of the gel to the cervix.
The gel, used in combination with the applicator, ensures correct and effective dosing, making it easy for patients to use.
Indications for use
DeflaGyn is indicated in cases of:
- Unclear cervical smears: ASC-US, LSIL, ASC-H, HSIL, PAP II-p, PAP III-p, PAP IIID1, PAP IIID2, PAP III and PAP IIID.
- HPV-induced cervical lesions
- Cervical lesions p16/Ki-67 positive
- Cervical erosions: can help heal and prevent their progression.
The gel helps relieve symptoms and reduces the risk of lesion progression, promoting spontaneous remission. According to gynecological guidelines, DeflaGyn is commonly used as an adjuvant in the "watchful waiting" period, where regular assessments and non-invasive treatments are preferred.
Dosage regimen
The recommended dose is 5 ml of gel, applied daily for 3 treatment cycles of 28 days each.
- For patients without menstruation: DeflaGyn is administered once daily for 28 days, followed by a 3-day break. Repeat the same cycle for two more 28-day courses, with breaks between each course.
- For menstruating patients: the treatment is applied outside the menstrual period, and the additional 3-day break is not necessary, as menstruation itself is considered a break.
Contraindications
DeflaGyn HPV is contraindicated in the following situations:
- Allergies to any of its ingredients, especially silicon dioxide, citric acid or sodium selenite
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before use, as there are insufficient data on safety in these periods
Features of use
To correctly administer the gel dose, users must use the included applicator. Shake the bottle, extract 5 ml of gel and insert it deep into the vagina up to the cervix.
It is important to clean the applicator before each use. It should not be used if it shows signs of damage.
After application, the gel may appear slightly reddish when washed off, with the potential to discolor underwear.
Side-effects
DeflaGyn is generally well tolerated, but mild side effects may occur, such as:
- Burning, discomfort or itching on application
- Allergic reactions: in rare cases, allergic reactions to silicon dioxide or other ingredients of the product may occur
If unusual symptoms persist, use should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted.
Interactions with other medicines and foods
DeflaGyn is a topical medical device and the risk of drug interactions is low.
However, concomitant use with other vaginal products is not recommended as it may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.
Therefore, additional intravaginal topical treatments such as ovules or other vaginal gels should be applied at least 2 hours before or after using DeflaGyn. Preferably, you can give one treatment in the morning and one in the evening.
Overdose
Overdose with DeflaGyn is unlikely due to the way it is taken. However, excessive use may cause vaginal irritation and discomfort.
It is advisable to follow the dosage indicated to avoid unpleasant manifestations.
Storage conditions
DeflaGyn should be stored in a dry place at temperatures below 25°C, away from direct light and moisture. It should not be left out of the reach of children and should be used before the expiry date indicated on the packaging.

DeflaGyn vaginal gel/2 applicators, 150 ml, Virtus Pharma
I was recommended the product by my gynecologist. No complaints for the first 28 days. On the first day during the break I experienced severe discomfort. In the hospital - where I ended up - I was told that I had a pelvic inflammatory disease although I hadn't had a bladder infection for ten years. I probably didn't tolerate the active ingredients or excipients. After I stopped taking them, the problems continued. In the meantime, my entire flora has been destroyed and I am struggling with infections. Even though I haven't had any infections for years. I therefore no longer use it as it is too risky for me. It may have helped others. Unfortunately not for me. What a shame at the price for 3 months :(
