Description
Zovirax cream
Zovirax cream is a medicine for the treatment of cold sores on the lips and face. It contains acyclovir, an antiviral drug that can kill the virus that causes cold sores. Clinical studies have shown that timely treatment with this drug stops the formation of cold sores. If cold sores have already appeared, treatment with this medicine will speed up its healing. It is usually applied five times a day at intervals of about four hours.
Itching phase
In the first phase, you will notice the appearance of the first symptoms. The itching usually lasts for a few hours, and the affected area may become red and swollen. TIP: It is recommended to start treatment at this stage.
Vesicle phase
At this stage, you may notice a blister starting to form. At first, you will see small, painful pimples that may multiply and enlarge. The fluid in them contains millions of virus particles. TIP: If a blister appears, do not touch it more than necessary to avoid spreading the infection to another part of the body or to the eye.
Crust phase
This stage occurs when the cold sore dries up and forms a crust. Cold sores heal underneath, but as the scab shrinks, it can develop small cracks that tend to bleed. TIP: Let the crust fall off on its own, peeling it off may leave a scar.
The healing phase
As the scab begins to fall off, the skin underneath remains dry, so we may see residual swelling and pink skin.
Trust the experts
Up to 67%* of the population carries the HSV-1 form of Herpes simplex, which causes cold sores. Untreated cold sores usually progress through the stages in 7-10 days, sometimes taking up to two weeks. Stay confident even with cold sores. Zovirax cream delivers the drug aciclovir to the cell infected with the herpes virus to fight the virus that causes herpes. * https://www.paho.org/hq/index.php?…;
