Description
Zinba 250UI/ 5000UI/ g Ointment, 20 Grams, Antibiotics
Zinba is indicated in the treatment and prophylaxis of skin infections caused by bacteria sensitive to neomycin and bacitracin:
Localized bacterial skin infections, eg: boils, infected crural ulcers, infected stasis ulcers, hidradenitis suppurativa, perioral staphyloderma, carbuncles, impetigo, superinfected eczema, sycosis, paronychia.
Bacterial infections of lesions: by cutting or abrasion, post-surgical, skin grafts.
Prophylactic in case of cuts (including post-surgical), abrasion, burns.
Dosage
Adults and children over 2 years
It is applied locally 2-4 times a day, on the skin surface corresponding to the affected area.
Following local application, the maximum dose of 1 g of neomycin per day, equivalent to 200 g of Zinba, should not be exceeded due to the possibility of systemic adverse reactions.
The duration of treatment is up to 7 days.
In the case of patients with superinfected burns with a surface greater than 20% of the body surface, the ointment is applied only once a day, because there is a possibility of absorption of the two active substances. Additional monitoring of patients with renal insufficiency is necessary.
Administration method
Zinba is applied in a thin layer on the affected surface. If necessary, it can also be used under occlusive dressings.
BOYS
The use of this medicine is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.
elderly
It can be used in the elderly. Caution is recommended in cases where there is a decrease in renal function and with the possibility of significant systemic absorption of neomycin sulfate (open lesions).
Warnings:
If hypersensitivity reactions or superinfections with resistant microorganisms occur, treatment must be discontinued. The risk of hypersensitivity reactions (rash on the skin, itching, redness) is greater when the use of the ointment is prolonged (over 7 days), under an occlusive dressing, in cases of chronic dermatitis (especially stasis dermatitis).
Prolonged use or application on large skin surfaces should be avoided.
Superinfections with resistant microorganisms, especially fungi, may occur during prolonged treatment with Zinba. In this case, it will be necessary to treat the new infection.
In the case of patients with renal and/or hepatic insufficiency, the risk of adverse reactions increases; it is recommended to evaluate kidney and liver functions through laboratory tests, as well as perform audiometry tests (risk of ototoxicity).
In patients with myasthenia gravis or other neuromuscular diseases, as well as acidosis, it is used with caution, because the systemic absorption of the active substances may cause neuromuscular block. Calcium or neostigmine can be used to antagonize this effect.
Avoid contact with eyes. In case of accidental eye contact, rinse with plenty of cold water.
In the case of skin infections or severe injuries (eg, deep cuts, puncture wounds, animal or human bites, severe burns), a medical evaluation is necessary to determine the appropriate prophylaxis and treatment of these injuries.
Do not apply to the breasts during breastfeeding.
Zinba contains lanolin.
Lanolin may cause local skin reactions (eg contact dermatitis).
