Description
Xylometazoline VP is a medicine in the form of a nasal solution used in cases of conditions such as:
- obstruction of the nasal passages caused by swelling of the nasal mucosa.
- acute inflammation of the nasal mucosa, which can occur during colds and flu.
- inflammation of the paranasal sinuses.
- allergic rhinitis, such as hay fever.
The active substance of Xylometazoline VP is xylometazoline hydrochloride, which acts on receptors located, among others, in the blood vessels of the mucous membrane. The main effect of xylometazoline is to constrict these blood vessels. By constricting the vessels, the drug reduces congestion, swelling and exudation of the mucous membrane of the nose and throat. In addition, the drug facilitates the flow of air by unblocking the nasal passages and tubes leading from the nasal cavity to the paranasal sinuses. It also reduces nasal discharge, allowing you to breathe freely through your nose. The effects of the drug appear 5-10 minutes after administration and last for several hours to 10 hours.
The Xylometazolin VP cardboard box contains a polyethylene bottle with a dispenser and a screw cap with a polyethylene security ring, containing 10 ml of solution and a leaflet.
