Voltaren Forte 23.2 mg/g gel, 180 g, Gsk
Voltaren Forte acts on the pain caused by trauma to the joints and muscles. Diclofenac penetrates deep into the skin and provides pain relief for up to 12 hours.
Voltaren Forte contains the active non-steroidal anti-inflammatory substance (NSAID) diclofenac. Diclofenac with topical application penetrates deep into the skin and acts directly on the affected tissue below the treated area, soothing the pain and treating the inflammation at the source.
Voltaren Forte contains the active substance diclofenac, which is part of the group of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is specially created to be absorbed into the skin through massage and increases the permeability of the skin. The active substance penetrates deep into the inflamed tissue.
Voltaren Forte is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and edema in painful joint and muscle conditions.
Indications:
Adults and adolescents aged 14 and over:
- Joint and muscle injuries (eg sprains, dislocations, bruises, back pain, sports injuries); rapidly relieves pain, including moderate to severe pain, improves patient mobility and helps restore normal function
- Tendinitis (eg tennis elbow), inflammation of the tendons around the elbow or knee.
Adults only (age 18 and over):
- Mild arthrosis of the knees or fingers or at the level of the spine.
Composition:
- The active substance is diclofenac diethylamine. One gram of gel contains diclofenac diethylamine 23.2 mg, corresponding to diclofenac sodium 20 mg
- This medicine contains 50 mg of propylene glycol and 0.2 mg of butylhydroxytoluene per gram of gel.
How to use:
- Always use Voltaren Forte exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you
- Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure
- For adults and adolescents aged 14 and over: apply Voltaren Forte 2 times a day (morning and evening) on the painful surface; the pain is relieved for a long period, up to 12 hours.
Contraindications:
Do not use Voltaren Forte:
- If you are allergic to diclofenac or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used to treat pain, fever or inflammation, such as ibuprofen or aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6)
- If you are not sure, ask your doctor or pharmacist
- Symptoms of an allergic reaction may include: wheezing (bronchial asthma) or difficult breathing; urticaria or rash on the skin manifested by blisters; swelling of the face or tongue; runny nose
- If you are pregnant in the last 3 months of pregnancy
- If you are under 14 years of age.
Precautions:
- Do not apply the gel if you have skin lesions such as cuts, open wounds, or skin with hives or eczema. If hives start to appear on the skin after applying the medicine, stop the treatment
- Do not use more of the medicine than indicated or for a longer period of time than indicated, unless your doctor recommends it
- Voltaren Forte is for external use only
- Do not use in the oral cavity
- Do not swallow
- Wash your hands after use
- Avoid contact with eyes
- If this happens, rinse your eyes with plenty of water
- Contact your doctor or pharmacist if discomfort persists
- You can use an elastic bandage (orthosis) or splints specific to sprain type injuries, but do not use the gel under elastic occlusive (plastic) bandages.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
- If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine
- Voltaren Forte should not be used during the last 3 months of pregnancy, as it may harm the fetus or cause problems at birth. Voltaren Forte should only be used on the doctor's recommendation during the first 6 months of pregnancy and the dose should be kept as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible
- During breastfeeding, Voltaren Forte should be used only on the doctor's recommendation, as diclofenac passes in small amounts into breast milk. However, Voltaren Forte should not be applied to the breasts by nursing mothers, nor elsewhere on large areas of skin or for a longer period of time.
Driving vehicles and using machines:
- Voltaren Forte does not influence the ability to drive vehicles and use machines.
