Salmet-T, 100 ml, Tis Farmaceutic
Indications:
Salmet-T contains a salicylate that has an effect against pain. It can be used in treatment
local pain in muscles, joints or soft tissues, in adults, adolescents
and children over 7 years old.
Composition:
- The active substance is methyl salicylate. One ml of skin solution contains methyl salicylate 20 mg.
- The other components are: levomenthol, pine oil, glycerol, ethanol, purified water.
Administration method:
Adults, teenagers and children over 7 years old
Apply 2-3 times a day, a quantity of skin solution, sufficient to cover the affected area in a thin layer and gently massage until the solution completely penetrates the skin. Hand washing is recommended after use. In case of accidental eye contact, wash the area with plenty of water.
Children under 7 years of age
Salmet –T should not be used in this age group.
Contraindications:
Do not use Salmet-T
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to methyl salicylate, to salicylates or to any of the others
drug components;
- if the area where you want to apply the medicine has lesions or sores or is to be
covered by a dressing (occlusive dressing) or a diaper;
- if you have had epilepsy attacks in the past;
- if the patient is a child who had a history of convulsions (febrile or non-febrile);
- if the patient is a child under 7 years old.
Precautions:
Like other salicylates, methyl salicylate can be absorbed through intact skin. Absorption through the skin increases in case of physical exercises, increased body temperature, occlusive dressings or diapers, skin lesions or large administration surfaces. That is why precautionary measures are necessary - especially in people with a high risk of adverse reactions to salicylates and in some cases avoiding the use of Salmet - T
Salmet-T should not be applied to large skin surfaces; also, it should not be applied to the breasts in breastfeeding women.
Among the excipients, this medicine contains terpenic derivatives (menthol and some components of pine oil), which reduce the epileptogenic threshold and, in excessive doses, can cause convulsions in children and agitation in the elderly.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking any medicine.
Salicylates administered orally to pregnant women can be toxic to the fetus; their use is contraindicated in the last 4 months of pregnancy. Salicylates applied to the skin can be absorbed into the mother's blood and may expose the fetus to the same risk when applied to a large area of skin or under an occlusive dressing. That is why Salmet - T should be avoided in pregnant women and used only on the doctor's recommendation, after analyzing the fetal risk/maternal benefit ratio.
It is not known whether methyl salicylate passes into breast milk; therefore, if you are breastfeeding, do not use Salmet - T without a doctor's recommendation.
Driving vehicles and using machines:
Salmet - T has no influence on the ability to drive vehicles and use machines.
