Oregano

Oregano is the most common species of the genus Origanum. The main active substance of the marjoram plant is the essential oil, and depending on the place of origin, harvest time and genetic factors, it has a different chemical composition.

The essential oil contains several dozen active substances, some of which give it specific properties and are considered the main ones. This means that there are different chemotype varieties of wild oregano oil, depending on the main active substance (carvacrol, sabinene, linalool, p-cymene, thymol, etc.) with different physicochemical parameters and therefore different properties.

Oil of oregano

The carvacrol chemotype (high carvacrol, low thymol) from the mountainous areas of the Mediterranean Sea is considered to be the best studied variety of the oil. The effectiveness and properties of this oil result mainly from the presence of carvacrol and thymol in appropriate proportions.

Its unique characteristics are :

• High, natural concentration of carvacrol (80%) and low thymol (< 2%).
• It is 100% essential oil, in its pure form, without the addition of olive oil.
• Must be diluted in olive oil before use!

This oil is obtained by steam distillation without the use of chemicals.

It comes from the remote mountainous corners of the Mediterranean coast from hand-harvested wild herbs, where no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides are used, which pollute conventional oregano crops.

The oil is obtained only from authentic species of Origanum vulgare, carvacrol chemotype.
