Properties:
Ostenil Plus – sterile prefilled syringe containing 40mg / 2.0ml of sodium hyaluronate and 10mg of Mannitol in isotonic solution in a sterile package

Pain and reduced mobility are the main factors in degenerative and traumatic conditions of the knee or other synovial joints.

Synovial fluid is found in all joints and contains hyaluronic acid. Endogenous (own/native) hyaluronic acid lubricates and absorbs shocks, allowing normal pain-free mobility. It also provides nutritional support for cartilage.

The viscoelasticity of the synovial fluid decreases considerably in degenerative joint diseases such as osteoarthritis, reducing its lubricating and shock-absorbing functions. As we age, the viscosity and amount of hyaluronic acid in the body decreases, especially in the joints.

The lack of viscosity increases the mechanical stress on the joint, causing cartilage damage.
The product restores the hyaluronic acid lost in the joints affected by osteoarthritis, so that elasticity is regained and the pain significantly improves and even disappears.

Administration method:
The product can only be administered by qualified doctors.

The positive benefits of a course of therapy with these intra-articular injections will last at least 6 months, depending on the degree of damage to the joint. If necessary, treatment cycles can be repeated.

Avoid use in the presence of skin diseases, inflammation or infection in the treated joint.

Composition:
Active ingredient: 2 ml of isotonic solution contains 40 mg of sodium hyaluronate and 10 mg of mannitol. Excipients: Sodium chloride, monosodium phosphate, disodium phosphate and water for injections.
The hyaluronic acid in Ostenil ® is produced by bacterial fermentation and is highly purified, no animal protein is present.

Precautions:
Patients who have a history of hypersensitivity to this type of drug should benefit from special attention. In general, precautions for intra-articular injections should be observed. Ostenil® injections should only be administered into the joint cavity. Avoid injecting into blood vessels or adjacent tissue. In the absence of clinical evidence for the use of hyaluronic acid in children, pregnant or lactating women, or in people with inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis, Ostenil® is not indicated. If the pre-filled syringe or sterile container is damaged, do not use it.

Store at a maximum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. After the expiry date on the box, do not use. Keep out of reach of children.

Contraindications:
Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to any of the components should avoid using Ostenil®.

Possible negative effects:
Pain, heat, redness and edema may occur in the joint treated with Ostenil®. Applying an ice pack to the affected area for 5 to 10 minutes will help lessen these side effects.

Interactions with other drugs:
There is currently no information on the incompatibility of Ostenil® with other intra-articular solutions. Administration of analgesics or anti-inflammatory drugs at the same time during the first days of treatment may be beneficial for the patient.
