Description
Nifuroksazid 200 Hasco is an over-the-counter (OTC) medicine in the form of film-coated tablets for use in chronic or acute diarrhea caused by bacterial infections of the gastrointestinal tract. The preparation can be used by adults and children over 6 years old.
How does the diarrhea medicine Nifuroksazide work?
The active substance of the drug is nifuroxazide, which has antibacterial activity against most bacteria that cause intestinal infections. The drug is active against Gram-negative microorganisms (Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, Escherichia) and Gram-positive cocci from the genera Staphylococcus and Streptococcus. It has no effect on bacteria from the genera Proteus, Pseudomonas, Providentia.
Nifuroksazid acts quickly. Its high concentration occurs in the intestinal lumen, which determines its antibacterial effect. It has no general effect and does not disturb the proper microbiological balance of the digestive tract. It is quickly eliminated from the body.
