Lemon balm water, also called lemon water (or improperly lemon), is obtained by distilling the aerial parts of the plant native to Asia Minor. Lemon balm is an aromatic plant used in naturopathic medicine.
The name of the plant comes from the Greek language, where "melissa" means bee, because bees used its nectar for honey production. Even here, in Romania, the plant is still called "hive grass".
In cosmetics, lemon balm water is interesting for its calming action on irritated or sensitive skin, for its antioxidant and tonic action on mature or wrinkled skin. Finely perfumes cosmetic compositions, with a pleasant smell.
