Description
Espumisan is a medicine in the form of small capsules, easy to swallow. The active substance is simethicone, which is intended for use in gastrointestinal problems and as an aid in diagnostic tests. Simethicone causes gas bubbles contained in food and gastrointestinal mucus to burst. The gases are then absorbed by the intestinal wall and removed through the bowel movement. The active substance of Espumisan is not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is excreted unchanged.
Espumisan is used in:
- increased gas formation in the postoperative period,
- preparing the patient for radiological and ultrasound examinations of the abdominal cavity and gastroscopy,
- treatment of symptomatic gastrointestinal problems resulting from excessive gas accumulation in the digestive tract.
