Matcha is a type of Japanese green tea with an intense color. Matcha's unique color and flavor are influenced by how it is grown. The tea bushes are covered with material to limit the access of sunlight to the leaves and to increase the content of valuable ingredients contained in them. The leaves are harvested by hand only once a year - usually in the spring. After harvesting, they are steamed briefly and then dried. Thanks to this fact, the oxidation process is stopped and the tea keeps its fresh taste. After drying, the leaves are carefully ground into a very fine powder using millstones. The process of making this tea is a true ceremony and an experience for the senses. Due to its taste, Matcha is also eagerly used as an addition to pastries, ice cream and cocktails.
