Laxamag, 6 suppositories, Magistra

Indications:
Short-term treatment of occasional constipation; preparation of patients for colonoscopy and rectoscopy, as well as for surgical interventions; moderate pain (usually associated with acetylsalicylic acid or other antipyretic analgesic); acute diarrhea.

Composition:
One suppository contains 10 mg bisacodyl and excipient, semi-synthetic solid glycerides (Suppocire AM).

Method of administration:
Adults: Treatment of constipation: the usual dose is one Laxamag suppository (10 mg bisacodyl) per day, for a maximum of 7 days. Preparation of patients for diagnostic examinations and surgical interventions: the usual dose is one Laxamag suppository (10 mg bisacodyl) 30 minutes before the scheduled time for bowel movement.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to bisacodyl or to any of the excipients of the product. Inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease. Abdominal pain syndrome of undetermined cause. Occlusive or subocclusive syndrome.

Precautions:
Drug treatment of constipation is only an adjunct to hygienic-dietary treatment, which consists of enriching the diet with vegetable fiber and water, physical activity, and re-education of the defecation reflex.
Prolonged use of Laxamag is not recommended, due to: the risk of addiction, with the periodic need for laxatives, the need to increase doses and severe constipation in case of discontinuation; 'laxative disease' which is very rare and manifests itself in severe functional colopathy, recto-colic melanosis, hydroelectrolytic disorders with hypokalemia. The product Laxamag should be avoided in patients with anal fissures, hemorrhoids or ulcerative proctitis.

If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.

Driving and using machines:
No studies have been performed on the effects of Laxamag on the ability to drive and use machines.
