Description
It is used for deep and hard-to-access wounds (with strong to moderate discharge or bleeding); cleaning effect - alginate fibers absorb the secretion from the wound together with the remains of dead cells, bacteria, pus and embed them in the resulting gel; suitable to combine with additional coverage - compresses suitable for secondary coverage. The alginate compress is used for the cleaning and granulation phase (for acute and chronic, infected and non-infected wounds.
Mode of use
The wound should be disinfected and washed before dressing (saline is suitable). ). Choose the right size of the compress according to the size of the wound (the compress should extend beyond the wound by at least 2 cm). If necessary, the compress can be adjusted to a more suitable size. Then a secondary covering is used (the compression is covered for example with gauze) and finally secondary fixation (for example with a patch). The compress should be replaced after the fibers have completely turned into a gel-like mass (when the absorbent core reaches about 1 cm from the edge).
