Description

Acard - a medicinal product containing acetylsalicylic acid, which inhibits the clumping of platelets.

Composition

The active substance of the drug is acetylsalicylic acid ( Acidum acetylsalicylicum ).

1 tablet contains 75 mg of acetylsalicylic acid.

Excipients: powdered cellulose, corn starch, sodium carboxymethyl starch, Coating: hypromellose, acryl Eze-White: methacrylic acid copolymer type C, talc, titanium dioxide (E 171), colloidal anhydrous silica, sodium hydrogen carbonate, sodium lauryl sulfate, triethyl citrate, antifoaming emulsion.

Dosage

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.

Typically recommended dosage: 1 tablet daily. Take the tablet after a meal – swallow it whole with a small amount of water.

In case of a recent heart attack or suspected recent heart attack: 4 enteric-coated tablets taken at a time. The tablets should be chewed very thoroughly to accelerate absorption.

Action

Acard contains acetylsalicylic acid, which inhibits the clumping of platelets.

Indications

Acard is intended for long-term, prophylactic use in diseases that pose a risk of blood clots and blockages in blood vessels.

Contraindications

When not to use Acard:

• if you are hypersensitive to the active substance - acetylsalicylic acid, other salicylates or any of the other ingredients of the drug;
• if you have a bleeding disorder;
• if you have an active stomach and/or duodenal ulcer;
• if you have severe kidney failure;
• if you have severe liver failure;
• if you have experienced attacks of so-called aspirin asthma caused by the administration of salicylates or substances with a similar effect, especially non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
• if you are in the last trimester of pregnancy.

Side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Common side effects (affects 1 to 10 people in 100):

• indigestion symptoms (heartburn, nausea, vomiting),
• abdominal pain.

Rare side effects (affects 1 to 10 people in 10,000):

• inflammation of the stomach and intestines, stomach and/or duodenal ulcer,
• transient liver dysfunction.

Very rare side effects (affecting less than 1 in 10,000 people):

• severe allergic reactions, including anaphylactic shock,
• renal dysfunction,
• reduction in blood glucose levels.

Frequency unknown:

• dizziness and tinnitus,
• hypersensitivity reactions: rash, hives, swelling, itching, cardiac and respiratory disorders,
• increased risk of bleeding, prolonged bleeding time,
• perioperative hemorrhage, hematomas, bleeding (nose, genitourinary, gums).

Warnings and precautions

• Do not use Acard for at least 5 days before a planned surgical procedure (including minor procedures, e.g. tooth extraction),
• Do not use the drug in case of hypersensitivity to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic drugs or other allergenic substances.
• Acard 75 mg contains sodium.
• Store Acard 75 mg below 25 ^o C.
• Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.

Use of other medications

Please tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you are taking, have recently taken or might take, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Do not use Acard together with:

• methotrexate in doses of 15 mg per week or more,
• ibuprofen.

Acard 75 mg may interact with:

• diuretics,
• antihypertensive drugs,
• anticoagulants,
• other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs,
• lithium salts,
• digoxin,
• antidiabetic drugs,
• alcohol.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using this medicine.

Acard should be used during the first six months of pregnancy only after consulting a doctor. Use of the drug during the last three months of pregnancy is contraindicated, as it may cause complications for both mother and baby.

Short-term use of the drug by breastfeeding women does not pose a significant risk to the breastfed infant. However, breastfeeding is not recommended during long-term use of high doses of acetylsalicylic acid.

Use of the drug in children and adolescents

Do not use in children and adolescents under 12 years of age.

Driving and operating machinery

Acard 75 mg has no influence on the ability to drive or use machines.
