What is Wortie and what is it used for?
Wortie is an easy-to-use product for freezing common warts and plantar warts (verrucas), similar to the cryotherapy used by doctors. Warts and plantar warts are small skin growths caused by infection with human papillomavirus (HPV). Common warts often appear on the fingers, backs of the hands, knees, and elbows. They are recognizable by their rough, cauliflower-like shape. The wart virus is highly contagious and can be spread from person to person through direct contact with the infected area. Plantar warts (verrucas) closely resemble common warts but appear exclusively on the soles of the feet or under the toes. They are generally painful and appear as small white rings with black dots in the center. Plantar warts are also contagious and can be spread through contact of the infected area with a wet surface, such as a floor.
How does Wortie work?
Thanks to the unique precision applicator, warts and plantar warts are frozen precisely. The rounded metal tip ensures pinpoint freezing of the wart. This protects surrounding healthy skin from accidental freezing and makes the treatment less painful.
Precision applicator:
- Targeted freezing of the wart/plantar wart.
- Excellent wart removal.
- No direct contact between skin and gas.
When freezing warts or plantar warts, the treated area may temporarily turn white. Once the treated area thaws, the skin will redden. Blisters may form under the wart due to the freezing process. Over the following 10 to 14 days, the wart will gradually disappear or fall off and be replaced by new, healthy skin. Generally, one application is sufficient to successfully remove the wart. However, if a second treatment is necessary, you should not repeat the application for at least 14 days. Allow the metal tip to warm to room temperature after each use before treating other warts or plantar warts with Wortie. It can be helpful to soak the wart in warm water for a few minutes before using Wortie. This makes it easier to penetrate any callus that may have formed on the wart.
Why Wortie?
Wortie uses a patented technology with a precision applicator for the fast and effective removal of common warts and plantar warts.
Wortie is ready to use quickly:
Wortie comes pre-packaged and ready to use immediately. There's no need for cumbersome handling of sponges or small parts. You can treat the wart just seconds after removing Wortie from its packaging.
Wortie is effective and safe to use:
Thanks to its unique precision applicator, the wart can be treated quickly. Furthermore, the liquid gas does not come into direct contact with the skin. The cold is conducted to the skin via a metal tip. This allows the freezing intensity to be individually adjusted during treatment by varying the pressure applied. With greater pressure, a larger portion of the metal tip touches the skin, freezing a larger area. By applying only gentle pressure to the applicator, the contact area with the skin is smaller. This makes it easy to treat even smaller warts, virtually painlessly. The Wortie's rotating head automatically returns to its starting position, preventing accidental activation during use. Wortie is suitable for children aged 4 and up.
How is Wortie used?
- Remove the lid and place the container on a table or flat surface. Hold the cuff below the rotating head firmly with your thumb and forefinger.
- Next, with your free hand, turn the upper dial counterclockwise to position I. Press the dial down for 3 seconds, being careful not to touch the metal tip. You will hear a hissing sound.
- Release the rotary head. Ensure the rotary head automatically returns to position 0 before using the product. Wait 2 seconds while the metal tip of the precision applicator freezes.
- Place the frozen metal tip precisely onto the wart and maintain contact for 20 seconds (hand) to 40 seconds (foot), depending on the area of skin. A slight pain may occur when you apply the frozen metal tip to the wart due to the freezing process. This sensation is normal and should subside a few hours after treatment.
Precautions:
Wortie must not be used:
- When the rotary head is stuck in position I.
- For children under 4 years old.
- On the face or skin areas near the face, under the armpits, on the chest, on the buttocks or in the genital area.
- On moles, birthmarks, hairy warts or other skin blemishes.
- On areas of sensitive, inflamed, damaged, cut, abraded, diseased or itchy skin.
- If you are unsure whether it is a wart, please consult your doctor first.
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor first.
Warning:
Container is under pressure. Protect from sunlight and temperatures exceeding 50°C. Do not pierce or burn, even after use. Do not spray on a flame or other incandescent material. Keep out of reach of children. Keep container tightly closed and store in a cool place. Keep away from sources of ignition – no smoking. Do not breathe vapor/aerosol. Use only in a well-ventilated area. Highly flammable. For safety reasons, if a child is to be treated, the treatment must be carried out by an adult. Do not apply excessive pressure when bringing the metal tip into contact with the wart. The treatment should last no more than 20 seconds (hand) to 40 seconds (foot). If Wortie is used by multiple people, the metal tip must be cleaned with a disinfectant after each treatment. If several warts are close together, you must treat each wart individually.
Side effects:
- As with any cryotherapy treatment for warts, the treated area may temporarily turn white.
- Strictly adhere to the treatment time (20 seconds for common warts on the hand, 40 seconds for plantar warts) to prevent local skin damage.
- In the case of larger or treatment-resistant warts, the blisters that form after treatment may be more painful.
- After the wart is removed from the skin, the skin pigmentation may be altered or a small scar may form.
- Due to the freezing temperature used to treat the wart, cryotherapy can cause minor burns. If you experience more severe symptoms than expected, please consult your doctor.
