The medicine contains the active ingredient drotaverine in the form of chloride (drotaverine hydrochloride). It belongs to a group of medicines called antispasmodics, which are used to relieve spasms of smooth muscles.

Indications: 

It is used for

• spasms of smooth muscles in connection with diseases of the gallbladder and biliary tract, inflammation of the gallbladder and biliary tract often associated with gallstones, inflammation of the tissue around the gallbladder, inflammation of the bile duct
• spasms of smooth muscles of the kidneys and urinary tract: kidney and urinary stones, inflammation of the renal pelvis, inflammation of the bladder, spasms of the bladder.

The drug is also used as an adjuvant treatment for

• spasms of the smooth muscles of the digestive tract: gastric and duodenal ulcers, inflammation of the stomach mucosa, spasms of the pylorus in the stomach, inflammation of the small or large intestine, spastic inflammation of the colon associated with constipation and flatulence in irritable bowel syndrome
• painful headaches
• gynecological diseases: painful menstruation.

How to use:

• Adults: the usual daily dose is 3-6 tablets (120 - 240 mg) in 2-3 separate doses
• If the symptoms do not improve or worsen within 5 days, it is necessary to see a doctor
• The tablets are taken independently of meals and washed down with liquid.

Warnings:

• Caution is required when using the drug during pregnancy
• The drug is not recommended during breastfeeding
• The drug is contraindicated in children under 1 year of age. The use of the drug in children older than 1 year should be consulted with a doctor
• The drug is contraindicated in severe renal or hepatic failure or severe cardiac insufficiency (low cardiac output syndrome)
• Administration of the drug in hypotension requires increased caution
