Frontline Combo

Frontline Combo for cats and dogs is available as a spot-on solution, packaged in single-dose pipettes for topical application. The Frontline Combo range includes several variants tailored to different species and body weight categories, including:

• Frontline Combo for small, medium and large dogs
• Frontline Combo for cats
• Frontline Combo for ferrets

The products are usually sold in packs containing 3 pipettes, with each Frontline Combo pipette representing a single dose for monthly administration.

Frontline Combo is indicated for the treatment and prevention of ectoparasite infestations in dogs and cats. The main therapeutic indications include:

• flea infestations (Ctenocephalides spp.);
• tick infestations (Ixodes spp., Rhipicephalus spp., Dermacentor spp.);
• infestations with blood-sucking or chewing lice;
• control of environmental contamination with flea eggs and larvae.

Frontline Combo for dogs and cats is administered exclusively by topical application, directly onto the skin, using the spot-on method.

The usual dose consists of applying one pipette once a month, depending on the animal’s body weight and species. 

The contents of the pipette are applied to intact skin, usually between the shoulder blades or at the base of the neck, to prevent accidental ingestion through licking. 

The use of Frontline Combo is contraindicated in certain situations. The product intended for dogs must not be used on cats or ferrets, as metabolic differences may lead to overdose and toxic reactions.

Furthermore, the product must not be administered to:

• rabbits, as it may cause severe adverse reactions or even death;
• sick or convalescing animals;
• animals with known hypersensitivity to fipronil or to the excipients.

Frontline Combo is considered a relatively safe product, being used on adult dogs and cats, as well as on puppies over 8 weeks old and of appropriate weight.

It is important that the pipette is applied directly to the skin, not to the fur, to ensure proper absorption.

In general, Frontline Combo is well tolerated. However, in rare cases, side effects may occur, such as:

• local skin irritation at the application site;
• itching or temporary redness;
• excessive salivation in the event of accidental ingestion.

These symptoms are usually mild and temporary. If severe or persistent reactions occur, it is recommended that you consult your vet.

No significant drug interactions have been reported between Frontline Combo and other commonly used veterinary products. However, it is prudent that concomitant administration with other topical antiparasitic products should only be carried out on the advice of a vet.

As the product is administered externally, interactions with food are unlikely.

The risk of overdose is low when the product is used as directed. However, applying an excessive amount or using a pipette intended for another species may cause toxic reactions, manifested by excessive salivation, tremors or lethargy.

In such situations, it is recommended to wash the application site and consult a vet immediately.

Frontline Combo must be stored in the original packaging, at temperatures below 25°C, protected from light and moisture. The product must be stored out of the reach of children and animals.

Compliance with storage conditions ensures the stability and efficacy of the active substances.
