Naabak

Naabak is available as eye drops, a 49 mg/ml solution, packaged in 10 ml bottles fitted with a dropper. The pharmaceutical formulation is designed for precise ocular instillation and ensures controlled administration.

The solution is clear, sterile and formulated without preservatives to minimise the risk of irritation and local adverse reactions.

Naabak is recommended for the treatment of ocular symptoms of allergic origin, in particular:

• seasonal or perennial allergic conjunctivitis;
• allergic blepharoconjunctivitis;
• symptoms associated with exposure to airborne allergens (pollen, dust, mould, animal dander).

The medicine does not replace the aetiological treatment of the allergy, but reduces local symptoms by stabilising conjunctival reactions, improving ocular comfort and patients’ quality of life. In severe or recurrent cases, its use requires further medical assessment.

The recommended dose for adults and children over 4 years of age is 1 drop instilled into the conjunctival sac of each eye, 2 to 6 times a day, depending on the severity of the symptoms. 

Administration must be carried out in accordance with basic hygiene rules: wash your hands, avoid contact between the tip of the dropper and the eye or eyelids, and close the bottle immediately after use.

Treatment should be continued for the duration of exposure to the allergen, even if symptoms subside. 

The use of Naabak is contraindicated in the following situations:

• known hypersensitivity to N-acetyl aspartyl glutamic acid or to any of the product’s excipients;
• children under 4 years of age, due to a lack of adequate safety data.

Furthermore, the medicine must not be swallowed or injected, as it is intended exclusively for local ocular use.

During instillation, the patient must avoid touching the eye with the tip of the bottle to prevent contamination of the solution. 

The patient must not exceed the recommended dose and must not discontinue treatment without medical advice, particularly during periods of high risk.

Naabak is very well tolerated, but, like any medicine, it may cause adverse reactions, which are usually mild and temporary:

• a slight burning or stinging sensation after instillation;
• minor eye irritation, which resolves spontaneously.

If more severe, unusual or persistent reactions occur, it is recommended to stop treatment and consult your doctor. 

No significant systemic interactions have been reported, as ocular absorption is minimal. 

However, if the patient is also using other eye drops – antihistamines, lubricants, vasoconstrictors or anti-inflammatories – a minimum interval of 15 minutes must be observed between instillations.

Overdose is unlikely due to the pharmaceutical formulation. However, in the event of excessive administration, at most mild local irritation may occur. In this situation, it is recommended to rinse the eyes with sterile saline solution and monitor symptoms. 

Store below 25 °C. Keep out of the reach of children. Do not freeze. Store in the original packaging, protected from contamination and light. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date stated on the packaging. Use within 3 months of opening. 

Unused or expired vials must be disposed of in accordance with the pharmacist’s recommendations, avoiding disposal into wastewater, to protect the environment.
