Intesta

Intesta is available in various forms, tailored to specific clinical needs: capsules or sachets containing granules. This variety allows the nutritional intervention to be personalised according to the patient’s clinical condition.

For example, Intesta, 60 capsules is a food supplement based on microgranulated sodium butyrate. Each capsule contains 500 mg of microgranulated sodium butyrate, encapsulated in a matrix of plant-derived triglycerides, equivalent to 150 mg of active sodium butyrate.

Intesta is indicated in the following situations:

• Functional bowel disorders;
• Irritable bowel syndrome, including forms with altered transit;
• Functional constipation;
• Imbalances in the gut microbiota;
• Poor diet associated with a reduction in bowel movement frequency;
• Periods of gastrointestinal stress or low-grade intestinal inflammation;
• Support for the restoration of the intestinal barrier.

Intesta capsules should be administered to adults at a dose of one capsule twice daily, in the morning and in the evening, preferably with meals, to ensure optimal digestive tolerance and effective release of sodium butyrate in the gut. 

In children over 7 years of age, Intesta should be administered at a dose of one capsule per day, preferably in the evening, with meals, with a recommended treatment duration of at least six weeks. 

The use of Intesta is contraindicated in people with known or suspected hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

The product is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, as there are insufficient clinical data to confirm the safety of administration during these periods. 

Furthermore, Intesta is not intended for children under the age of 7, and it must be administered strictly in accordance with the recommended doses in order to avoid possible gastrointestinal side effects.

The sodium butyrate used in Intesta is protected by a matrix of fully hydrogenated triglycerides, which prevents its premature absorption in the upper gastrointestinal tract. This technology ensures the gradual release of the active ingredient in the distal intestine, where metabolic and anti-inflammatory support is most needed.

The contents of the capsule may have a specific odour, characteristic of the active ingredient, which does not indicate any deterioration of the product.

In general, Intesta is well tolerated. Occasionally, the following may occur:

• Mild, temporary bloating;
• Mild abdominal discomfort, especially at the start of treatment;
• Temporary changes in bowel movements.

These effects are usually self-limiting and subside with continued use.

No significant drug interactions are known. Intesta may be taken at the same time as other dietary supplements or gastrointestinal treatments, including probiotics. 

It is recommended to take it with meals for optimal digestive tolerance.

No cases of overdose have been reported. However, exceeding the recommended doses may accentuate local osmotic effects, causing diarrhoea or abdominal discomfort. 

In such situations, it is recommended to reduce the dose or temporarily discontinue use.

Intesta should be stored at temperatures below 25 °C, in the original packaging, protected from excessive moisture and direct exposure to light or heat sources. 

The product must be kept out of the reach and sight of young children and must be used before the expiry date shown on the packaging.
